This week, GHS recognizes GCPS Coordinators Appreciation Week! We are grateful for the dedication, leadership, and support our coordinators provide throughout GCPS.

🌎 National Hispanic Heritage Month – Beginning September 15th, we celebrate and honor the rich history, culture, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.
Congratulations to the Varsity Smash Bros team for opening the fall season with a win. Special shout out to Phoenix Grubb for achieving his first 3-stock on Varsity. Congratulations to the Mario Kart ESports team for winning their first game of the season. New players Kaylin Hunt and William Trotman helped drive the team to victory.
This is a reminder of Picture Days: Underclassmen pictures for grades 9–11 will take place on Monday, September 14th, and Tuesday, September 15th. Please visit the GHS website Events tab for more information.
Jostens will meet with Juniors and Seniors on Thursday, September 17th, in the Auditorium to discuss Junior Rings and Senior Graduation.

Auditions for the competition One Act Team will be held on Thursday, September 17, in room 305, the black box theatre. Please bring a monologue to the audition. See the link in canvas to pre-register or sign up to work backstage.
The next NHS Chapter meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17th at 2:50 in the Courtyard. Attendance is mandatory. See you then!
German Club: Do you love German food, culture, and/or history? 🇩🇪 Want to be part of a club where you can make new friends, enjoy delicious food, and celebrate German culture beyond the classroom? Frau Ballew will have some Oktoberfest themed snacks to kick things off! Interested in joining?

Athletics
SWIM TEAM is holding preseason conditioning MONDAY , TUESDAY & THURSDAYS at the Riverside Wellness & Fitness Center. Students interested in swimming and their parents should join the Stack Team app and add Gloucester Dukes Swimming for schedules, transportation information, and important team updates.
🏆 GHS Athletics Registration Reminder: All students planning to play a sport at Gloucester High School for the 2026–2027 school year must complete the Arbiter registration to be eligible to participate in conditioning, tryouts, practice, or competition. Important: All student physicals must be uploaded online through the Arbiter App. We are not accepting physical copies of student physicals. The Arbiter registration link, tutorial, and information sheet can be found on the GHS Athletics website. If you have any questions, please contact the GHS Athletics Department.
Counseling
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Admissions representatives from several colleges and universities are conducting information sessions here at the high school for interested GHS Juniors and Seniors this fall. These visits are beginning this week! Mary Baldwin University will be here September 18th and Longwood University will be here September 21st. To participate, please sign up through your SchoolLinks account. E-hall passes will be sent to those who have signed up. Please see the Counseling Office if you have any questions.
Senior students and families, beginning the week of September 14th the school counseling office will be conducting senior meetings to discuss graduation requirements and post-secondary planning. Instructions on signing up with your school counselor will be sent in a separate e-mail and be available on the School Counseling Hub Canvas page.
ALL THINGS FINANCIAL AID: Juniors and Seniors, please join us on Tuesday September 29th at 5:30pm in the GHS Courtyard to hear from The College Place-Richmond director, Jasmine Philip regarding all things Financial Aid!
Daily Reminders:
This is a reminder to all families that have not completed the Returning Student Annual Update. Parents/Guardians can complete required forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal or via the Snapcode link sent by email. Please contact the Main Office or Counseling Office with any questions.
New Parent Drop/Off and Pick up Route: Parents/Guardians, in effort to alleviate back up on Short Lane; the pickup/drop off route this year will be routed through the lot on the right (Driver’s ed range). Please see our social media for more details and even a video! Staff will be on hand to direct you.
Parking passes are now available for eligible Juniors and Seniors - See the Facebook Announcement or GHS website for more information
Student Parking - There is still a delay in getting the numbers painted in the newly paved student lot. Student parking is on a first-come, first-served basis until the spots are numbered. We hope to get the spot numbers painted within the next couple of weeks.
Dress Code: This is a reminder that students must be covered from shoulders to mid-thigh. Shorts/skirts above mid-thigh, exposed mid-driffs, and exposed shoulders are not allowed. Please see page 10 of the GCPS student code of conduct for details.
