Good Morning GHS Families,
This is Dr. Mygas calling to let you know about an incident that occurred this morning, Thursday, March 23. At 8:18 AM, the fire alarm went off and the building was evacuated, including the portable classrooms and offices. This was not a planned fire drill. Rescue personnel responded and were on the scene within a few minutes. After approximately 30 minutes, it was determined that the alarm went off because a smoke detector was still present and active in the area of the building currently under construction, and it was set off by the dust from the construction. Once it was determined that the building was safe, students and staff returned to the building and classes resumed.
I want to thank all of our students and staff for their quick and safe evacuation of the building. As always, safety is the top priority at GHS.
