Good Morning GHS Families,

I want to make you aware of an incident that took place at GHS this morning, Tuesday, May 30.  At approximately 9:15 AM, a teacher alerted GHS administration of an odor of propane in his classroom.  The odor quickly spread throughout multiple hallways and a decision was made to evacuate the building for everyone's safety.  Students and staff followed the fire drill protocol and promptly exited the building at approximately 9:20 AM.

Firefighters arrived on scene and swept the entire building to determine the presence of any flammable or toxic gases.  No such gases were present in the building, and the firefighters advised GHS administration that it was safe to re-enter the building.  Students returned to the building at approximately 10:05 AM.

GHS administration has determined that the incident occurred because a student deliberately released a non-flammable, foul-smelling spray that had an odor similar to propane.  There is no gas leak at the school and no risk to student safety.  I want to thank our staff and student body for quickly and safely evacuating the building.  As always, safety remains the top priority at GHS.

Thank you for your support, and have a great rest of the day.
Stefan Mygas, Ed.D.
