Good Afternoon GHS Families,

This is Dr. Mygas calling to tell you about an incident that happened today at GHS.  Shortly after 1:00 PM, a fire started in one of the storage containers in the construction storage area outside of the GHS building.  GHS staff members saw the fire and activated the fire alarm, and the main building and portable classrooms were all immediately evacuated.  The fire department responded on scene and extinguished the fire, which never spread beyond the single container.  The fire department gave clearance to re-enter the building, and students and staff returned to their 4th block classes at approximately 1:35 PM.

While the building was evacuated, a student had an unrelated medical emergency.  GHS staff responded to the situation and called EMS.  Within minutes, an ambulance arrived on scene and paramedics provided medical care for the student.

I'd like to thank our students, staff, and first responders for their cooperation and assistance during this situation.  As always, safety is our top priority at GHS.

Thank you, and have a great day.
