Good Afternoon GHS Families and Staff,
This is Dr. Mygas calling. Today, Monday, March 4, at approximately 12:22 PM, GHS staff members were notified that gunshots had been heard near Page Middle School. GHS immediately went into Secure protocol, which involves bringing everyone inside, accounting for all students and staff, locking all outside doors, keeping students in their classrooms, increasing situational awareness, and, otherwise, continuing with business as usual. Within about five minutes, I was informed by our School Resource Officers that the source of the gunshots had been identified, and I was advised that GHS could exit the Secure protocol. At approximately 12:27 PM, GHS lifted the Secure protocol and continued with business as usual.
I want to thank our students, staff, and partners in the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office for their timely and effective response to the situation today. As always, safety is our top priority at GHS.
