October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and next week we’re saying “Boo to Bullying!” Join us each day for Boo to Bullying Spirit Week as we take a stand for kindness, inclusion, and respect — and have a little fun while doing it!
Here’s what’s happening this week:

💀Character Counts:Represent your favorite characters using colors, shirts, accessories.ABSOLUTELY NO COSTUMES.
Remember, showing school spirit isn’t just about dressing up — it’s about spreading positivity and standing up for others. Let’s make this a week full of kindness, courage, and connection.

Congratulations to the ESports Mario Kart team for a flawless 2-0 victory on Thursday.
Congratulations to the Gloucester Marching Dukes on earning Superior rating the the VBODA State Marching Assessment!
On Friday, October 24th, six students from Gloucester High School went to RCC to compete in a math contest against two other schools. Gloucester placed first place for their overall score. Catherine King received first place, Bryson Johnson received second place, and Caleb Collett received third place.
CROCHET CLUB We are very excited to have our second CROCHET club meeting next Monday, the 27th! Join us after school in the cafeteria, and let's keep working those stitches! We will meet from 3 to 4:30. Don't forget to check the Canvas course for some instructional videos that we've included to help you with your projects.
Did you get a red or yellow Ren card this quarter? Bring it to lunch Wednesday, October 29 to receive your free popcorn! You can find us past the counseling office by the cafeteria during all lunches.
The 2nd meeting of the Spanish Club will be Wednesday, October 29th in Mrs. Lasseigne's room, Rm 140. We'll elect officers. We'll meet from 2:45-3:30. Come join us!
Parents/Guardians: This is just a reminder that early dismissal pick-up does end promptly at 2:20 PM. If you need to pick your student up early, please arrive PRIOR to 2:20 PM.
Students ID are ready for pick up in room 234 with Ms. Schoenthal. Students may stop by at their earliest convenience.
The GHS Main Office is collecting donations for Toys for Tots! Please bring in new, unwrapped toys and place them in the donation box located in the Main Office. Your generosity will help bring joy to children in need this holiday season. The deadline to donate is Friday, November 28th.
All items on the Care Closet food list are still needed for weekly food bags. The items can be found on the GHS website under the "Find It Fast" page. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
HOSA is selling breast cancer awareness bracelets for $5 see a HOSA member or Mrs. Nester in room 236 if you would like one.

Explorers Club – Explorers, if you missed our Oct. meeting last week or couldn’t make it – we have started our 1st official fundraiser. Come by Ms. Falkenberg’s room in room 139 to pick up your chocolate & snacking order form to start fundraising – our next meeting will not be until November
Counseling
There will be a substance use and prevention group that will be starting in November on Wednesdays. If you are interested in participating, please sign up in the counseling office, on Canvas or email Mrs. Peters with your student I.D. # and choice of 2nd or 4th block. The deadline to sign up is October 31 so please don’t miss out on this opportunity!
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Admissions representatives from several colleges and universities will be conducting information sessions here at the high school for interested GHS Juniors and Seniors. This week, Christopher Newport University, Bridgewater College, and James Madison University will be visiting. Please check your Naviance account to sign up and to view the recently added November visits. E-hall passes will be sent to those who have signed up. Please see the Counseling Office if you have any questions.
Red Ribbon Week began Wednesday, October 23rd and runs through Friday, October 31st. The Red Ribbon Week 2025 theme is "Life is a Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free." This theme emphasizes that making positive choices, like staying drug-free, helps build a stronger future, with each decision acting as a piece of a larger puzzle. #DrugFreeLooksLikeMe
Athletics
Join us on Tuesday for the girls volleyball home match and senior night. Varsity starts approximately 6:30
Join us on Wednesday as we celebrate the boys volleyball seniors. Their match starts at 5:30.
Girls soccer will have a player interest meeting on Thursday October 30th at 3:30pm in the cafeteria. If you are interested in playing please try to stop by. Coaches will go over the upcoming conditioning schedule.
Please be advised, for safety reasons, students attending GHS home Varsity football games are strongly encouraged to sit in the stands unless going to the restroom or concession stand. Standing along the fence line or walking around the stadium edges is also discouraged. Announcements will be made and Security, SROs, and administrators will be reinforcing this message.

Yearbooks are now available for pre-order on yearbookordercenter.com using code 4758.
Parking passes Additional parking passes are on sale via School Cash Online for Juniors and Seniors. Passes will be on a first come first served basis. If you have already purchased a pass but have not yet selected your spot, please bring your completed parking pass application along with a screenshot or printed copy of your receipt to the Main Office.
Free/Reduced Meal applications are available online and paper applications are available in the GHS Main Office.
Safety: GHS strives to keep all students and staff safe in accordance with division guidelines. All GCPS students go through security and weapons detectors each morning. Please continue to encourage students to be careful not to bring prohibited items to school such as vapes and lighters. Thanks for your support!
Demographics Form: Parents and students, please check and verify contact information for you and your emergency contacts in PowerSchool. All returning GCPS students received an email from PowerSchool with a link to update demographic and emergency contact information. Please be sure to log in and verify that all information is correct, and make any changes that are necessary.
