Duke Update May 17, 2026
This week GHS recognizes National Speech Pathologist Day on Monday, May 18th. This day recognizes and celebrates the vital contributions of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication, language, and swallowing disorders. Thank you to our speech-language pathologists for the support, care, and dedication you provide to our students each day!
Congratulations to the Gloucester Track & Field team for an incredible performance at the BRD Championships Wednesday! The team showed up in a big way, achieving a remarkable 20 new personal records across the board. Leading the charge was senior Mohamed Erraji, who had a historic day by shattering a 14-year-old school record in the Discus with a massive toss of 154 '0 ", a mark that has stood since 2012! Mohamed also tied the long-standing school record in the Shot Put. Please join us in celebrating the entire team’s hard work as they prepare for the Regional Meet! Go Dukes!
Congratulations goes out to Cadet Commanding Officer Cooper White, Cooper led the NJROTC Unit over this past year as the units Commanding Officer with the direct assistance from his Executive Officer Donald Marcella and unit Master Chief Casey Billings, along with the Senior Staff. Together these students worked hard throughout the year and as a result their unit was awarded the Distinguished Unit Award with Academic Honors for the second consecutive year in the unit's 45-year history.
Congratulations also goes out to Cadet Jakob Rothenberger as he assumes command of the NJROTC Unit for school year 26/27.
Congratulations to the Men’s varsity Crew 4+ team for placing 3rd in the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. This is the largest scholastic regatta in the world. Even though they didn’t place high enough to advance toward finals, they beat our competition that got 1st at states. Shout out to head coach Zach Moore, asst. coach Ethan Schacht and team members Jacob Gross, Tristan Buswell, Jacob English, Willis Redding, and Joshua Littlefield (cox).
The final Attendance Recovery sessions will be held this week, Monday, May 18 through Thursday, May 21, from 3:00 PM to 5:15 PM. There is still time for students to register for these sessions. The registration link can be found on the Gloucester High School website under the News section. These sessions are a great opportunity for students to recover attendance hours and finish the school year strong.
All library books are due back to the library by Friday, May 22nd.

Counseling
Peer Tutoring Club has concluded for the 25-26 school year. Special thanks to all of our tutors, participants, family, and staffulty that supported us thus far. We will be back next school year.
Athletics
Spring Athletes & Families the Spring Sports Awards night will be Wednesday, June 3rd @ 7:00pm in the GHS Auditorium. Please bring a dessert to share. Enter through door 3E from the student parking lot side of the building.
All students planning to play a sport at Gloucester High School for the 2026-2027 school year must complete the Arbiter registration to be eligible to participate in conditioning, tryouts, practice, or competition. The registration link, tutorial, and information sheet can be found on the GHS athletics website. Contact the GHS athletics department if you have any questions.
Seniors
Seniors, prom guest forms are available in the Main Office. These forms are required for guests who do not attend Gloucester High School or for guests who have already graduated. Please make sure your guest is approved before purchasing prom tickets, there will be no refunds. Tickets are on sale now through SchoolCash Online. The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, May 22nd ,ticket sales end at 3pm.
Those of you who have purchased a couples prom ticket must provide your guest's name. If you fail to provide your guests name, they will not be permitted to enter prom. You and your guest must provide identification to enter the prom. Please see the link on your senior corner on the GHS main page. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Parker.
Please note: after registration you must stay inside the venue space, once you leave the venue you will not be permitted back in.

The agriculture program is selling prom flowers. Bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres are available for order through May 21st. See the Canvas announcement for the form link and more details.
Senior families, the last day to order cap/gown units from Jostens online is Friday, May 29th.
Jostens will return on Friday, June 5th during the mandatory graduation rehearsal to distribute any remaining cap and gown orders. They will also accept cash payments ($75) for last-minute purchases.
Seniors may request up to 5 additional tickets for graduation. Graduation tickets will be distributed at the mandatory graduation rehearsal on Friday, June 5th. Please stop by the Main Office during class changes or your lunch period to add your name to the extra ticket list. The deadline to request additional graduation tickets is 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 3rd.

Daily Reminders:
Dress Code: Students must be covered from shoulders to mid-thigh. Shorts/skirts above mid-thigh, exposed mid-driffs, and exposed shoulders are not allowed. Please see page 10 of the GCPS student code of conduct for details.
The GHS cafeteria offers Second Chance Breakfast for students who have a late-in or may have missed breakfast earlier in the morning. The cafeteria doors will open from 9:10 a.m. until 9:20 a.m.
For early pickups, please arrive PRIOR to 2:20 PM.
The Care Closet only accepts new, high school appropriate clothing. The Care Closet can not accept perishable food items or food items in glass containers. Thank you for your generosity.
