Hello GHS Dukes,
Congratulations to Varsity Football team under direction of Coach Ryan Wenner on their shutout victory 41-0 against the York Falcons. GHS has won the Battle of the Bridge 2026!
Early Dismissal: Wednesday, September 23rd is an early dismissal day for students. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 pm.
Congratulations to the Gloucester Marching Dukes on winning 1st place band in class 5A and 2nd place overall band at the Lafayette Marching Invitational this past Saturday. The Marching Dukes will continue their season this Saturday at the Southeastern Virginia Music Games hosted by Hickory High School.
Congratulations to the Smash Bros and Mario Kart ESports teams for their victories this week. Marcos Puente Rosario had impressive back-to-back wins in his matches to secure the victory for the Smash team.

Athletics
🏆 GHS Athletics Registration Reminder: All students planning to play a sport at Gloucester High School for the 2026–2027 school year must complete the Arbiter registration to be eligible to participate in conditioning, tryouts, practice, or competition. Important: All student physicals must be uploaded online through the Arbiter App. We are not accepting physical copies of student physicals. The Arbiter registration link, tutorial, and information sheet can be found on the GHS Athletics website. If you have any questions, please contact the GHS Athletics Department.
Counseling
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Admissions representatives from several colleges and universities are conducting information sessions here at the high school for interested GHS Juniors and Seniors. This week, Longwood University will be here and next week Randolph Macon College, Richard Bland College, and the University of Virginia will be visiting. To participate, please sign up through your SchoolLinks account or stop in to the Counseling Office. E-hall passes will be sent to those who have signed up. Please see the Counseling Office if you have any questions.
Senior students and families, beginning the week of September 14th the school counseling office will be conducting senior meetings to discuss graduation requirements and post-secondary planning. Instructions on signing up with your school counselor will be sent in a separate e-mail and be available on the School Counseling Hub Canvas page.
Financial Aid Workshop: Juniors and Seniors, please join us on Tuesday September 29th at 5:30pm in the GHS Courtyard to hear from The College Place-Richmond director, Jasmine Philip regarding all things Financial Aid!
Daily Reminders:
Student Parking - The numbers will be painted soon in the newly paved student lot. The space numbers have been reconfigured, however students who have paid will keep thier spot and receive a sticker with the updated number. Look for announcements on Canvas and the main office. Until then, parking will still be on a first-come, first-served basis.
This is a reminder to all families that have not completed the PowerSchool Returning Student Annual Update. Parents/Guardians can complete required forms through the PowerSchool Parent Portal or via the Snapcode link sent by email. Please contact the Main Office or Counseling Office with any questions.
New Parent Drop/Off and Pick up Route: Parents/Guardians, in effort to alleviate back up on Short Lane; the pickup/drop off route this year will be routed through the lot on the right (Driver’s ed range). Please see our social media for more details and even a video! Staff will be on hand to direct you.

Dress Code: This is a reminder that students must be covered from shoulders to mid-thigh. Shorts/skirts above mid-thigh, exposed mid-driffs, and exposed shoulders are not allowed. Please see page 10 of the GCPS student code of conduct for details.
