Duke Update December 11, 2022

Holiday Spirit Week: December 12 - 16 will be Holiday Spirit Week at GHS. The themes are as follows:
● Monday: Holiday socks
● Tuesday: Holiday hat
● Wednesday: Holiday character
● Thursday: Ugly sweater
● Friday: Holiday pajamas

Parents and Guardians: In compliance with Virginia State Code, all 10th Grade students will be receiving a hearing and vision screening. Screenings will be conducted during school hours by the Registered Nurses in the Clinic. If your student is identified as having a vision or hearing deficit, you will be notified in writing.

Attention Seniors: Now is the time to apply for scholarships. The GHS Scholarship Application is now available and can be accessed from your Naviance account. The application with all needed forms has been sent to your school-based e-mail and paper copies are available in the Counseling Office. This application allows you to apply for 37 different scholarships with just one application. If you are thinking of attending any trade school or a 4-year or 2-year college, you should apply for local scholarships using this application.

Visit the BayPort Credit Union site in c-hall to deposit $5 into your account, or open an account and be entered to win $25! One entry per person. We are open Mondays and Wednesdays.

Dukes’ Dispatch: The first-semester journalism students are proud to announce a new edition of the student newspaper, Dukes’ Dispatch! Click on the link here https://ghsdukesdispatch.org/ to view the website. Don’t forget to bookmark the site and check back every two weeks for new stories and updates on events at GHS. In addition, the Dukes’ Dispatch is currently accepting student story submissions, club and activity announcements and story ideas and leads. Please submit stories, announcements and ideas
to [email protected]. Thank you very much for your support!

Yearbooks: Yearbooks are now for sale through https://www.yearbookordercente... using code 4758. The current price is $50. There will be a price increase to $55 on 1/4/23. Senior ads are also available through the order center until 3/1/23. The yearbook sold out last year, so make sure to order before it’s too late!
