Duke Update February 5, 2023
Congratulations to the GHS Indoor Track & Field team on their meet Saturday, January 28th. The team had 32 new personal records, two state qualifiers for the 1600 meter run Mya Baker and Rylan Allcorn. A new school record for the Boy's Triple jump by Xavier Johnson. The girls 4x200 meter relay team (Ahjanae Jackson, Deziray Bellinger, Samantha Linaweaver, and Tai Sewell) ran the second fastest time in school history, missing it only by .60 second. The last regular season track meet is on Wednesday, February 1st. The Regional track meet is on Thursday, February 9th and the State track meet is on Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th. Go Dukes!!
Congratulations to the Boy's JV Basketball team on their win Friday, January 27th over Woodside. Friday night's victory marks the team's third straight win.
This week is Spirit Week and a Pep Rally for our Winter Sports.

SENIORS: If you need mid-year transcripts sent to colleges you MUST request this in Naviance. Please make sure you request MID-YEAR transcripts in the drop-down.
Attention rising Juniors and families: The school counseling department will start course requests for rising juniors on Monday, February 6th. If you would like to be part of that meeting, email your child’s school counselor to set up a time. Emails and school counselor assignments can be found on the GHS website under the School Counseling page.
Attention Dual Enrollment Parents: All Dual Enrollment fees are due by February 17. Payments must be submitted to the GHS Bookkeeper, Ms. Early. If paying by check, please make the check payable to Gloucester High School. If you have any questions about the fees please contact Ms. Early, the GHS Bookkeeper. Please note there is also a limited amount of payment assistance available. If you are interested in payment assistance, please contact Ms. Coles, the RCC Navigator.
Report Cards will be electronically issued on Wednesday, February 8th through document delivery. If you need assistance with document delivery please contact the GHS counseling office or Main Office. Spring Sports Tryouts will start the week of 2/20 – please see the GHS website under athletics for times & locations. Tryouts are weather permitting. A list of coaches’ names and emails is also listed on the athletics page.
Attention winter and spring athletes: This is a reminder that this current semester determines eligibility for your sports. You must pass the required number of classes to participate. Spring athletes must also have a 2.0 GPA. All eligibility rules are posted on the GHS website under Athletics and in Canvas. If you have questions please see your coach, counselor or Athletic Director Ms. Hunter.
Calendar update: The Gloucester County School Board recently approved an updated school calendar. The last day of the first semester is now Wednesday, January 25. This will be a full day of school, as the School Board has also eliminated final exams. Please visit the GCPS website to view the new calendar.

Dukes’ Dispatch: The first-semester journalism students are proud to announce a new edition of the student newspaper, Dukes’ Dispatch! 4758. The current price is $50. There will be a price increase to $55 on 1/4/23. Senior ads are also available through the order center until 3/1/23. The yearbook sold out last year, so make sure to order before it’s too late! Contact Lauren Leszczynski, the yearbook advisor with any additional questions.
Parking Passes: Parking passes for the 2022-2023 school year are on sale now and can be purchased in the Gloucester High School Main Office. The cost for a parking pass is $52 dollars, via online thru the School Cash Online site, cash, check, or money order made out to Gloucester High School. Please go to the Gloucester High School website to print out and complete the 2022-2023 Student parking pass application prior to coming into the Main Office to purchase your parking pass. If you purchase your pass using the School cash online site, make sure to bring in proof of the receipt, along with the completed 2022-2023 Student parking pass application. Students will be able to choose a numbered parking space
on a first-come, first-serve basis until all parking spots are sold for the 2022-2023 school year.
